The Consulate General of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City raised over VND240 million (US$11,500) at a charity dinner held during a forum for trade, tourism, and investment from June 13-14.

The donations, which came from the purchase of tickets to attend the event and humanitarian contributions by visitors, will be handed over to dignitaries of the Ky Quang 2 Pagoda in Go Vap District, which cares for orphans and homeless elderly people.

The monks at the pagoda now take care of over 200 orphans. Many of them suffer from illnesses and disabilities and were abandoned by their parents. The orphanage was granted a license in 1994.

The gala dinner was part of the promotional event called ‘Indonesia – Vietnam 2nd Trade, Tourism and Investment Forum”, held at the Sheraton Saigon Hotel with the participation of around 250 delegates from enterprises in both countries.

The forum was organized in an effort to enhance cooperation between Indonesia and Vietnam, especially to reach the target of bilateral trade of $5 billion by the year 2015.
