Nguyen Duy Dung, from the central province of Quang Nam won the singing contest titled ‘Tieng Hat Mai Xanh’ (Evergreen Singing), organized for middle-aged and elderly music lovers by Ho Chi Minh Television HTV and MayQ Media Company, on May 31 at the Hoa Binh Theater in District 10 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The final round narrowed on three contestants, namely, Mai Van Dang, 71, from the southern province of Binh Duong in category above 66-years-of-age; Tran Ngoc Hoa, 53, a HCMC resident in the category 51 to 65-years-of-age and Nguyen Duy Dung in the category 35 to 50-years-of-age.
Competitors had to sing one solo and one duet with a professional singer. Mai Van Dang sang with singer Van Khanh, Tran Ngoc Hoa with singer Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Duy Dung with singer Anh Tuyet.
Nguyen Duy Dung won the first prize of VND50 million ($2,388) after the highest votes via audience text messages.
In addition, he won a prize for Most Influential Competitor.
This year, three contestants from the final round will have their own CD published with nine songs. In all 1,500 CD’s will be brought out.
