PANO – Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai urged the National Defence Academy to actively renew its scientific research with a focus on the national protection strategy in the new period at the closing ceremony of 2012-13 academic year, held in Hanoi on July 19th.

Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai also highly appreciated the academy’s results in training over the year and stressed that the academy is a big centre on education and training and military and defence-security scientific research of the country. To deserve its significant role in the new period, the academy should improve the professional qualification of lecturers and modernize teaching facilities. The Deputy Prime Minister concluded that the academy should not only be a prestigious military education and training centre not only in Vietnam, but also in the region and the rest of the world.
Lieutenant-General Vo Tien Trung, the Academy’s Director, said that in this academic year, the Academy opened training courses for 234 senior officers and they all completed the courses with flying colours. Besides, 256 other high-ranking officials from the Party, the State and armed forces were provided knowledge of defence and security. The Academy also opened training courses for senior staff from Laos and Cambodia.
Notably, the academy completed 17 theses at Ministry of National Defence level and compiled nearly 100 teaching and research documents.
Furthermore, the academy’s Party committee and directorate directed the renewal of training contents and curriculum for capacity building of the commanding staff and the ability to forecast situation development relating to defence-security and national protection.
