Stricter measures needed to prevent traffic accidents

(VOV) -The National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) held an online conference on July 6 to devise measures to prevent serious road traffic accidents in the near future.


In the first half of this year, the number of traffic accidents and injured people declined, but fatalities increased by 244,5.23 percent higher than last year’s period.


One of the direct reasons for growing traffic accidents is to lax State management on transport and limited supervision and control of transport violations.


Transport Minister Dinh La Thang requested relevant agencies to monitor on-duty transport officials and staff to clarify their responsibilities for preventing traffic accidents.


NTSC Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also asked localities to devise specific plans and measures that must be strictly implemented while the heads of provincial and municipal traffic safety boards need propose initiatives and more effective traffic safety solutions.
