Units asked to respond to tropical low pressure

PANO – As a tropical low pressure is developing, the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army on July 19th asked several army and naval units to brace for circumstances of the tropical low pressure in the coming time.

At the General Staff’s request, units will strictly maintain their duty regulations, closely observe development of the tropical low pressure, check plans of flood prevention and search and rescue (SAR), and ensure safety for barracks. Besides, their forces should be placed on full alert and team up with local authorities to locate areas prone to flash flood, landslide and isolation to evacuate people to safer areas.


Meanwhile, border guards in coastal provinces and cities were requested to cooperate with local authorites to infrom ships at sea about the development of the low pressure, and instruct them to take refuge when necessary.


The Navy, Air Force and Air Defence Service and the Marine Police Department, were asked to take measures to ensure safety for vehicles operating in dangerous areas and be ready to carry out rescue as ordered.
