VN demands satisfactory compensations for fishermen

VGP – Viet Nam demands China to satisfactorily compensate its fishermen after a Chinese boat with code number 306 chased and bullied two Vietnamese fishing vessels in the waters of Viet Nam’s Hoang Sa archipelago on July 7.

Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Luong Thanh Nghi made the statement on July 17.

He said that Viet Nam also requested China to seriously investigate the case, strictly deal with such wrong action, and not to repeat such action.

According to the Vietnamese competent agencies, the Chinese boat sent crew to restrain, search, beat Vietnamese fishermen and take away properties on the two vessels namely QNg 96787 TS and QNg 90153 TS when they were fishing normally in Viet Nam’s waters.


The aforesaid action violated Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the archipelago and sovereign and jurisdiction rights in the East Sea, Nghi said.


It was also in contrary to the humanitarian spirit for fishermen, international laws, the spirits of the Agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues between Viet Nam and China as well as the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), said the diplomat./.
