509 firms go out of business in Kon Tum

The Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) Province of Kon Tum announced that 509 companies have either closed down or suspended operations this year, including one that went bankrupt.


The local business association blamed this on their focus on just one sector without surveying the market’s needs.

Public hospital fees to change next year


The Ministries of Health and Finance are working on a new fee structure for the State-owned hospitals.


The fees will be calculated based on actual spending by hospitals on various things.


The new structure is expected to come into force next year.

Storm-hit provinces to get $7.8m repair fund


The Government will provide VND165 billion (US$7.8 million) from the reserve fund to provinces and cities hit by Typhoons Bebinca and Rumbia and other disasters.


Hai Phong will get VND50 billion, Nam Dinh and Nghe An VND25 billion each, Ha Giang VND20 billion, and Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Dien Bien, and Ca Mau the remaining VND45 billion.


The Government also sanctioned VND53 billion ($2.5 million) for some provinces to buy seeds and repair essential infrastructure.

Tra Vinh spends big on rural development


The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Tra Vinh has spent VND1.4 trillion (US$66.7 million) on economic and social development of rural areas.


This is part of the province’s three years of implementing the national programme on building new rural areas.


Of this, VND64 billion came from the Government, VND248 billion from loans, VND142 billion from its own funds, and the rest from donations.
