HCM CITY (VNS)— The Australian consulate in HCM City launched the country’s Direct Aid Programme 2013-14 for projects in southern Viet Nam yesterday.
The programme provides grants for small projects aimed at alleviating human hardship and ushering in development in disadvantaged communities.
The funding is provided in a range of areas like community health, education, and infrastructure projects, and this time the focus is on projects that address gender equality and women’s empowerment.
DAP funding is available to individuals, community groups, NGOs, academic institutions, libraries, museums, and other organisations engaged in development in Viet Nam on a non-profit basis.
The deadline for applications for funding is 11 October. Last year Australia provided DAP funding of about VND2.9 billion (US$137,300) to 13 projects. — VNS
