Effective export black tea production

(VEN) – With a capacity of 4,500 tonnes per year, the export black tea production demonstration model in the Song Lo Tea Joint Stock Company is expected to yield VND2.43 billion in pre-tax profits and VND1.822 billion in annual net profits, with a return on investment rate of 6.5 years. The model has provided jobs with an income of VND2-2.5 million per capita per month for many people.


Tuyen Quang Province is well suited for tea cultivation. In recent years, the province invested to expand its tea growing area, improve productivity and production and make tea become a major crop in the region. As of the end of 2012, Tuyen Quang had 8,015 hectares of tea with an average yield of 7.8 tonnes per hectare and a fresh tea bud output of 57,360 tonnes per year.

Apart from providing seed and material assistance for farmers, the Tuyen Quang Province Department of Industry and Trade issued many preferential policies for production and trading businesses to pave the way for tea development in the province. In 2013, with capital from the national industry promotion program, the department’s Industry Promotion Center 1 assisted the Song Lo Tea Joint Stock Company in Kim Phu Commune in Yen Son District to construct an export black tea production demonstration model.


The model received VND12 billion in investment, VND250 million of which was financed by industry promotion programs. It has modern equipment including tea dryers and classifiers and tea leaf crushing machines. Song Lo Tea Joint Stock Company General Director Ngo Duc Tu said that the model not only helped increase productivity and product quality but also decreased material losses.








Tuyen Quang Province Department of Industry and Trade’s Industry and Trade Promotion Center 1 will consider multiply the export black tea production demonstration model in other businesses to increase business efficiency in these enterprises, reduce poverty and promote industrialization and modernization in rural Tuyen Quang.

Tu added that the company had exported its black tea products to the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, India,Pakistan, Chinese Taipei and China, and that its high quality products had proved popular with consumers while part of the company’s black tea products was sold inside Vietnam. In the coming time, when the model operates at its total design capacity and output increases, the company will expand its domestic and foreign markets.


Industry and Trade Promotion Center 1 Director Nguyen Toan Thang said that the export black tea production demonstration model has brought and will bring in major socioeconomic benefit for Tuyen Quang Province and its environs, provided jobs and contributed to assuring social welfare in the region./.
