HA NOI (VNS)— Fourteen sea-environment observing stations are expected to be built and 13 existing oceanographic-meteorological stations improved during 2013-50 under a project of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s Viet Nam Administration of Seas and Islands.
The move aims to perfect the country’s system of integrated marine resource-environment and hydrometeorology observing stations to serve economic development and national defence.
In the short term, at least 10 new observing stations ordered to be finished by 2016 to meet, said at the meeting, Deputy Minister Chu Pham Ngoc Hien.
The project has three phases, the first phase 2013-16, the second phase 2016-20 and the last phase 2020-50.
The administration’s Oceanography Centre has been assigned to be in charge of the project. — VNS
