CAO BANG (VNS)— Whirlwinds and hail storms hit the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang over the weekend, causing billions of dong worth of damage.
A total of 229 houses were damaged in Quang Uyen District, while 2.8 hectares of sugarcane and other crops were damaged.
In Trung Khanh District, heavy rain and whirlwinds tore the roofs off 90 houses, snapped four electricity pilons. No deaths were reported.
The total damage is estimated at over VND800 million (US$38,000).
One person was also killed in Lao Cai Province after being swept away by floodwaters. — VNS
