VietNamNet Bridge – The excellent aerobic pair Thu Ha – Ba Dong won the first gold for Vietnam at the World Games in 2013 in Cali, Colombia on August 3.
This pair previously won a world gold medal and many Asian and Southeast Asian medals.
This is the second medal for Vietnam after the silver medal of karate artist Hoang Ngan. Before going to Colombia, the Vietnamese sports delegation targeted to get one gold medal and the goal is realized.
On the overall ranking, Vietnam ranked 24th with 1 gold and 1 silver medal. Among Southeast Asian countries, Vietnam is the first team to win a gold medal.
Vu Ba Dong and Tran Thu Ha began training together since 2006. The pair has become the pillar of the Vietnamese national aerobic team on the world arena in the past seven years.
The pair won the gold medal at the 2009 and 2010 World Cup. They also won the championship at the SEA Games and Asian Indoor Games. At the Tokyo World Cup 2013, which closed on April 10 in Japan, with the participation of 19 countries, this duo won a silver medal with 20,650 points, ranking behind a pair from China.
Ba Dong used to be a Wushu artist, while Thu Ha was a gymnast before practicing aerobic.
Both born in 1989, native of Hai Phong port city, Ba Dong and Thu Ha used to be the headache of their coaches because they “hated” each other. Thanks to the help of coaches, they have become a duo on the stage and a couple in real life.
The duo has practiced very hard, with difficult acts to be confident to compete with international colleagues. They are also very successful in trio performances. At the 2013 World Cup in Japan, besides the silver medal for duo, they won a bronze medal in the trio category, with Nguyen Viet Anh.
At the age of 24, both are entering the maturity of their career. Under the guidance of an expert from Bulgaria, Ba Dong – Thu Ha are improving their skills to maintain their key positioning the national team.
