The venue, equipped with modern facilities and a library of over 2,000 books and 50 magazine titles and 600 documentary and entertainment DVDs, is where Vietnamese audiences receive updates on new policies on the economy, trade, security, foreign affairs, culture and education of the U.S. People of all ages can also come to the center to search for studying abroad in the U.S., practicing their English skills and researching American history and culture. There are regular clubs on English speaking, books and poems among others.
At the event, American consul general Rena Bitter also announced a major library expansion project which would be carried out later this year to equip more computer terminals, areas for people to gather and more room for reference materials and the debut of a new lending library service.
After two years, the center has hosted over 300 events and welcomed around 70,000 guests.
