(VOV) - The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has warned Typhoon Usagi will result in strong winds throughout the East Sea.
The centre’s latest reports place the storm about 270km to the northeast of the Philippines’ Luzon Island with wind speeds ranging from 184–221km per hour.
The storm is expected to move northwest and west-northwest over the next 24 hours at a rate of around 20 km per hour
In the next two to three days, the storm is predicted to change its course north-northwesterly and westerly at about 15 km per hour.
Rough seas are also expected along coastal areas from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau and in the south of the East Sea.
The Central Committee for Flood and Storm Control and the National Committee for Search and Rescue have sent urgent warnings to coastal cities and provinces from Quang Ninh to Phu Yen and northern mountainous areas.
The messages stress the importance of monitoring the typhoon’s developments and preparing for floods and rains of potentially alarming strength.
Earlier on September 20, seven people were reported either dead or still missing after the flooding that hit localities including Nghe An, Nam Dinh, Quang Binh, and Dak Lak.
