VGP – As many as US$10 million will be used for preventing and treating HIV/AIDS at provinces and districts seriously suffered from the disease in Viet Nam in 2013-2015.
This sum is for the second phase of the project of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS. It will be carried out in 10 cities and provinces nationwide, providing care services and comprehensive support for HIV-infected people and children living with HIV.
The Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS on September 9 held a conference to launch the second phase of the project.
Apart from that, the conference provided a platform for the sharing of experience in preventing HIV/AIDS between Community Based Organizations (CBO).
The first phase of the project was launched in Ha Noi, Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc, Can Tho and Vinh Long with a total amount of US$5.9 million.
Accordingly, 1,554 adults and children living with HIV received assistance, 43% higher than the committed figure.
As many as 809 children aged to 17 infected with HIV/AIDS got free services, 90 % higher than the commitments./.
