(VOV) -Two Vietnamese athletes took home two more golds at the ongoing Asian Youth Games in China, elevating Vietnam’s position in the overall medal tally.

Swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien carried off a gold medal in the 200m individual medley on August 23, achieving a hat trick at the games following her earlier two golds in the women’s 50m and 200m backstroke.
Ly Hoang Nam became the first Vietnamese player to win a tennis gold medal at the tournament after defeating the Philippines’ Mendoza.
So far Vietnam has bagged a total of 5 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals, lifting the country to seventh in the overall rankings. China is still dominating with 25 gold, 23 silver, and 23 bronze medals. The Republic of Korea’s 24 golds secured it second, followed by Japan with 7 gold.
