(VOV) – The ties of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia have been consolidated over the years, bringing practical interests to the two nations.

The view was shared by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen during their September 2 meeting on the sidelines of the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) in Nanning, China.

They said both countries have made strides in economic, trade and investment cooperation, contributing to each other’s development.

They agreed to instruct their ministries, agencies and localities to increase mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas.

Dung congratulated Cambodia on the success of its recent parliamentarian election, in which Hun Sen’s ruling party – the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) – achieved a significant victory.

He expressed his hope that the new National Assembly and government of Cambodia will be established soon to lead the nation, in the interests of the Cambodian people and contributing to peace and stability in the region and the rest of the world.

Hun Sen thanked Vietnam for providing support and assistance to Cambodia over the years and said the Royal Government of Cambodia will do its utmost to maintain stability in the country.

He said the National Assembly will convene its first meeting very soon to elect a new cabinet for the new term to carry on with national development tasks.

On this occasion, Dung thanked the Cambodian government and people for creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese expatriates to live, study and work in their country.

PM Dung arrived in Nanning city on September 2 to attend the China-ASEAN Expo and the 10th China-ASEAN Business-Investment Summit (CABIS) at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
