Vietnam, Japan intensify trade promotion in mechanics and machine manufacturing

(CPV) -On September 4, a business meeting between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses in the mechanics and machine manufacturing field was co-organised by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Viettrade) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the International Business Promotion Division under the Industry and Economics Bureau, City of Kitakyushu.

The business meeting aimed to help businesses of the two countries exchange experiences, as well as promoting business cooperation.

Japanese businesses who joined the business meeting are from Kitakyushu and mainly operate in the fields of industrial machine, electricity, device production, processing and metallurgy.


Speaking at the business meeting, Mr. Nguyen Ba Hai, Manager of Viettrade’s Business Information and Consultancy Division, said that since the Vietnam – Japan Economic Partnership Agreement was signed in 2008, Japan has become one of the three largest trade partners of Vietnam.


Total bilateral export turnover increased 20 percent a year on average. The figure hit USD24.66 billion in 2012 and reached USD11.81 billion in the first six months this year. During the past three years, Japan became the country’s largest investment partner. By August, 2013, Japan was the largest investor in Vietnam with a total capital of more than USD32 billion. The capital was mainly poured into processing and manufacturing, information, electronics and construction.


Mr. Taketomi Sasakura, Assistant Manager of International Business Promotion Division, Industry of Economic Bureau, City of Kitakyushu, applauded Vietnam’s efforts in promoting cooperative relations between the two countries and believed that with Viettrade’s experiences in organising the previous events, the meeting would be successful./.
