PANO – The Vietnam Marine Police and the US Coast Guard should enhance their cooperation in training, exchange of delegations at all levels, experiences, information relating to anti-piracy, search and rescue and environmental disasters.

Vietnamese Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh stated at the reception given to Admiral Robert J. Papp, Commandant of the US Coast Guard at the Ministry of National Defence’s Headquarters on September 6th.
General Phung Quang Thanh warmly welcomed the visiting admiral and believed that his visit to Vietnam would help promote the defence cooperation between the two countries in general and the Vietnam Marine Police and the US Coast Guard in particular. He also laid stress on the newly-established comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US, showing that Vietnam attached much importance to its cooperation with the US in all fields, including defence.
General Phung Quang Thanh held that the Vietnam Marine Police and the US Coast Guard should support each other with organizing conferences and multilateral forums on regional security with an aim to develop their friendly ties and contribute to regional peace, stability and security.
For his part, Admiral Robert J. Papp thanked the host for his warm welcome and informed him of the outcome of his working visit with the Command of the Vietnam Marine Police. The visiting admiral believed that comprehensive cooperation between the two forces would be further developed
