The items which are from India, Cambodia, South Korea, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Japan, Thailand, China and Vietnam are typical antiques from each country and are made from varied materials such as bronze, pottery, stone, terracotta, wood and jade.

From those materials, past artisans had made them into offerings, decorations and household utensils as well as artworks. A lot of the artifacts in the exhibition reflect the religious life of locals.

The similarity in Asian cultures results from the geographical and natural proximity but each Asian country owns its particular cultural identity that creates a multi-colorful picture of Asian cultures.

Among artifacts are sculptures related to Buddhism, highlighting Edo-time ceramics and traditional lacquers from Japan and there is also pottery, jade and bronze works from China.

Vietnam will showcase the bronze art of Dong Son Civilization in Le-Nguyen dynasties from the 15th to 19th century.

The exhibition opens to celebrate the fourth Conference of Asian National Museums Association. It will run until January at the museum, 1 Trang Tien Street in Hanoi.
