A special force Thursday conducted a transportation rehearsal of the remains of General Vo Nguyen Giap into and off a special civil aircraft at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi.

It began as a military truck carrying the coffin slowly proceeded to the airport. After that, 12 army officers in uniform transferred it into the plane.
The State Funeral Committee said that his remains will be placed into a Vietnam Airlines civil aircraft namely ATR72 and will be brought from Hanoito Quang Binh, his native land, for burial services on Oct. 13.
A representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam told Tuoi Tre that all aviation regulations will be tightened to ensure the safety of the body and all aircrew members will wear mourning armbands to pay tribute to the late general.
General Giap’s relatives and the state funeral committee led by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will fly there onboard another Vietnam Airlines plane the same time.
11 hearses including a missile launcher truck for the General Giap’s funeral services arrived in Dong Hoi train station from Ho Chi Minh City at 12:06am on Thursday.
Memorial services schedule
The funeral committee Wednesday announced the official schedule for delegations to pay last respects to General Vo Nguyen Giap in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Binh on Oct 12.
Accordingly, the ceremony will begin on 7:30 am and will last to 9:00 pm at the National Morgue at No. 5, Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi.
The morning session from 7:30 am to 12:00 am will be set aside for delegations from state agencies and organizations.
They include delegations of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the President, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, General Giap’s relatives and high-ranking Party and State leaders and former leaders, delegations of foreign leaders, Hanoi municipal Party Committee, Hanoi People’s Council, Hanoi People’s Committee, the Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, the Ministries of Defense and Public Security, international organizations and diplomatic corps, and the Vietnam War Veterans’ Association.
Delegations from cities and provinces will be scheduled from 12am to 2pm while delegations from ministries and central agencies and branches will have their turns between 2pm to 3pm.
The time from 3pm to 9pm will be available for other delegations and individuals.
Mourners in Quang Binh and Ho Chi Minh City can pay their last respects to General Giap at the headquarters of Quang Binh People’s Committee and Reunification Palace respectively at the same with those in Hanoi.
An information desk to provide detailed information related to the funeral has been set up at 51B, Phan Dinh Phung street, Ba Dinh district in Hanoi.
