Nhan Dan – Experts compared and contrasted press activities in Austria and Vietnam on October 29, the first day of a seminar in Hanoi entitled ‘Press in the Globalisation Process: Opportunities, Challenges and Prospects’.
The seminar is co-organised by the University of Vienna (Austria), the Vietnamese Academy of Journalism and Communication (AJC), Nhan Dan Newspaper, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association and the Quang Ninh provincial Radio and Television Station.
The organising board received nearly 70 papers by professors, researchers and journalists from universities, research institutes and press agencies at home and abroad. The papers focus on several topics, including ‘Press in the globalisation process’, ‘Journalism and Journalism ethics’, ‘Training and Developing Professional Press’, ‘Press and Public Diplomacy’ and ‘Global Communications and Responsibility of Local Press’.
At the seminar, scientists also offered solutions for training and retraining journalists and press cadres.
Addressing the seminar, Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication Dr. Truong Ngoc Nam affirmed that the seminar serves as a forum for scientists and journalists to share experience and contribute to promoting the development of international communications in the current globalisation process.
The four-day conference, which runs from October 29-November 1 is divided into eight sessions, which are being held at the Academy of Journalism and Communications, the Nhan Dan Newspaper headquarters, the Quang Ninh Radio and Television Station and in Ha Long city.
