On behalf of the provincial Party Committee, Phu Yen government and the province’s people, comrade Dao Tan Loc solemnly wrote down onto the funeral book of General Vo Nguyen Giap, “General Vo Nguyen Giap is the excellent student of the late President Ho Chi Minh, the name of the General is together with the immortal feats of Vietnam army and peoples during the two resistance wars against the French colonialists and the U.S imperialists. The General’s entire life is an outstanding example of one communist man, of an elite man of Vietnamese peoples. With the erudite knowledge, the defense talents and the kind-heart, the General conquers the hearts of Vietnamese peoples of all generations as well as the progressive and peace-loving people from every walk of life. Paying tribute to the General, the Party Committee, the government and peoples of Phu Yne province promise to learn from the Great Man’s great example, Phu Yen is striving to construct the province into a united, developed one, making efforts to be prosperous, happy, like what General reminded”.

Before offering incense sticks and proceeding the tribute-paying rituals, the leaders, cadres and soldiers of the Frontier guard command post, the fishermen reviewed the biography and reserved a minute of silence in memory, expressing the boundless grief to General Vo Nguyen Giap-the national hero, the excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, the eldest brother of Vietnamese People’s Army.
