A source from VAMC told the Daily that the first frame contract signed with Agribank includes 27 debts owed by 11 corporate customers.

VAMC will issue special bonds with the total value of over VND1.7 trillion for this contract. Mortgaged assets in the contract have the total value of over VND3.6 trillion.

These debts have met conditions required by the Circular No. 19/2013 on bad debt trading and handling, the source said.

After signing the frame contract, VAMC and Agribank will sign sub-contracts for each loan. The two sides will sign some specific debt trading contracts today and clinch more deals in the coming time.

“We have been working very hard to basically finish procedures for buying first bad debts,” Le Quoc Hung, vice chairman of VAMC, told local reporters.

Hung said that VAMC has plans to sign bad debt trading contracts with some commercial banks within this week.

“Up to now, we feel secure at loan reviewing and classification progress. There has been good cooperation and supports from credit institutions,” Hung said.

VAMC has received many proposals to sell bad debts from credit institutions with around 500 to 700 debts. Everything goes smoothly and the target of buying at least VND30 trillion worth of bad debts within this year may be within its reach, Hung added.

VAMC targets to issue VND35 trillion worth of special bonds to buy bad debts from now to the end of this year.
