Thailand-Cambodia border trade shows no worries as the International Court of Justice (ICJ) sets to announce its decision regarding the border dispute between the two countries next week, a Thai newspaper reported.

Trading at the Chong Jom border point in Thailand’s Surin province still takes place as usual despite a slight decrease of about 20-30 percent as a result of the border conflict and depressing global economy.

Oil is, so far, the most famous product at the border and possesses 60 percent of the market share. Consumer products and building materials also gained a fair market share of 20 percent, the Khaosod newspaper said.

Border trade at this point grows 15-20 percent annually and is worth approximately 1.5 billion THB per year. It is expected that it will generate up to 2 billion THB next year.

In Sri Saket province, trading at the Sa-Ngam border point is still busy, and shows no signs of any changes despite the coming decision from the ICJ on November 11.

According to the newspaper, Thai security authorities could be able to manage the situation, unless anybody sneaks into the conflict area.-VNA
