(VOV) – The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang announced on November 6 bird flu has broken out in Tan Phu and Tan Thoi communes of Tan Phu Dong district.
The disease was detected at four flocks of duck in the two communes, with 938 ducks dead or infected. Later blood samples showed that all the ducks tested positive for the deadly viral strain of A/H5N1.
Provincial veterinarians culled 557 sick ducks and disinfected the affected farms to prevent the disease from spreading further.
They have so far vaccinated more than 12,000 waterfowls in the two communes.
