PANO – To brace for Typhoon Haiyan, expected to hit the Central region of Vietnam in the next few days, and minimize the losses of lives and property, naval troops on Song Tu Tay Island are trying their best to help trawlers to seek refuge from the typhoon.

As of the morning of November 9th, 64 ships from provinces of Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam and Phu Yen with 736 fishermen took shelter on Song Tu Tay Island. Health workers on the island have provided free health check-ups, medicines and water for the fishermen.
