The Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Nguyen Xuan Anh, recently met with the delegation of authorities from Australia’s Queensland State and representatives from some of the state’s universities.


Head of the delegation, Australian Deputy Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr Sean Riley said that the purpose of their visit was to intensify cooperative relation between Queensland and Da Nang, and amongst universities of the two localities. He emphasised that, they also wanted to cooperate with the Da Nang Centre for Promotion of Human Resources Development (CPHUD) to open some training courses in tourism in the city.The Vice Consul General added that this would be a fruitful cooperative programme and contribute to enhancing the quality of human resources in tourism, one of the spearhead economic sectors of Da Nang.


Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Anh highly appreciated the cooperative programme between Queensland and Da Nang, most notably in education. The city leader said he wished to intensify cooperation with the authorities as well as universities of Queensland, and top priority would be given to tourism.


Within the framework of the visit, many meetings between the University of Da Nang and Queensland universities were held to seek cooperative opportunities between the two sides.In addition, a meeting to introduce Australian education programmes and exchange with the city’s students took place at HAGL Da Nang Plaza.


So far, 143 trainees of Da Nang have been sent to study in Australia under the Da Nang High-quality Human Resources Development Project (Project No 922). 43 of them chose to study in tourism management and hospitality, event management and organisation, economics, biotechnology and health care in Queensland. As of now, 20 have finished their courses and returned to work in the city.
