According to the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines, there are about 100 Vietnamese people in Tacloban, Philippines.
Through the hotline +00639982756666, the Embassy has contacted Vietnamese citizens in Tacloban and suggested them to gather in the centre of the city to access rescue workers.
The Embassy has also urgently contacted the Philippine military forces, which is the main force for relief and overcoming the consequences of typhoon Haiyan, to suggest that Embassy staff could go with them directly to the scene to visit Vietnamese people and delivered relief goods.
The Philippine military said that they will create most favourable conditions for the embassy staff to carry relief supplies by specialized airplane C-130 to Tacloban. Currently, the Vietnamese Embassy has prepared necessary supplies, including medicine, clothes, dry provisions and instant noodles, as well as sent two Embassy staff on a C-130 plane of the Philippine military to Tacloban at the soonest time.
According to the Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines Truong Trieu Duong, the communication system of the Philippines has not been smooth, many airports were devastated, and relief supplies would be taken to the airport nearest Tacloban before being transported by other means to Vietnamese people.
He also added that, in the future, the entire embassy staff will continue to coordinate efforts with local authorities to gather more information about Vietnamese people in danger after typhoon Haiyan, to urgently have measures to timely support./
