HA NOI (VNS)— The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and German political organisation Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) yesterday co-organised a major conference exploring the monitoring of law enforcement in Viet Nam.
Justice Deputy Minister Le Thanh Long said that further research in the area was important while current Government initiatives to increase transparency in law enforcement supervision should be fully supported. To ensure the swift implementation of the work, the Government has issued a decree providing guidance.
Participants at the conference emphasised the need for more clarity over the level of responsibility held by ministries for the supervision of law enforcement procedures and practices. It was agreed that more detailed regulations would go some way to improving the situation. — VNS
