Lam Dong province’s college and high school students have participated in a practical class where they could not only learn but also observe live animals and plants in their natural habitats.

The class was organized by Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park in collaboration with Da Lat University's Biology Faculty, offering Lam Dong province's college and high school students a practical class which was held within the park.

This method helps students to forget the pressure that they often experience when learning on campus. “It is very interesting, especially when we see a living monkey in the park. We could easily understand the lesson in a stress-free environment”, said Nguyen Doan Tuong Vi, student of a Da Lat-based high school.

According to Luong Van Dung, deputy head of Biology Faculty at Da Lat University, the class offered a visual teaching style which allowed students to interact with nature and see a lot of things they had never known before. This helps them learn faster and remember easier.

The program belongs to a project called “Environmental education” which was kicked off at some of Lam Dong province’s schools starting November 2013. Students don’t have to pay transportation, ticket or food costs when participating in this class.

“Lam Dong’s ecological system has a high biological diversity. The Bidoup – Nui Ba National Park is a valuable asset which needs to be protected and introduced to other people. In the future, this program will be expanded allowing more students to join,” asserted Tran Nhat Tien, a representative of the park.
