Kristalina Georgieva, EU Commissioner responsible for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, and Valerie Amoss, UN Humanitarian Chief, will co-chair the event. The delegates will discuss humanitarian challenges, practical commitments, and the possibility to enhance international security forces in the Middle Africa.

The Central AfricanRepublic has suffered from serious instability since the toppling of President Francois Bozize in March, 2013. More than 460,000 people, accounting for 1 tenth of the population, fled the countries due to regular violence. The EU has sent 50 million Euros to the African peacekeeping force and 60 million Euros for humanitarian activities.
