On February 18 a ceremony took place at the office of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Jerusalem to officially nominate the prominent Israeli investor based on a letter of commission signed by Pham Binh Minh, Vietnam’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in May last year.

Ahouvi got the nomination following his involvement in efforts to strengthen relations between the two nations.

The event marked an important milestone, affirming the two sides’ close relationship and further strengthening long-term development of Vietnam-Israel economic and political co-operation.

“I am honoured to be a part of the efforts to further build and continue the Vietnam-Israel relationship. I believe Vietnam will continue to be an attractive destination for tourists from Israel, and an appealing host to Israeli investors. My priority in the coming time will be to share the image of Vietnam with Israeli citizens,” Ahouvi said.

At current, Israeli investment projects are on the rise in Vietnam with the most notable being Ahouvi’s $300 million Alma resort in Khanh Hoa province.

Ahouvia, 58, is an Israeli billionaire with more than 25 years’ experience in the global real estate market. He is considered a most exceptional investor in the European market with a total transaction value exceeding $10 billion and is also well-known for structured finance transactions.

Some of his more recognisable projects were his acquisitions of National Car Parks (€1 billion), Hilton Hotels (€800 million) and VW car exhibition showrooms (€500 million).

His major financial partners are Royal Bank of Scotland, Credit Suisse, Canada Life, Bank of Ireland, Barclays and numerous other organisations.
