The political crisis in Ukraine may threaten the stable lives of about 10,000 Vietnamese people mainly working and living in the major cities of Kharkov, Kiev and Odessa.

A correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency in the Russian Federation had a quick interview with Tran Duc Tua, chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Kharkov, one of the hotspots in Ukraine, which has a large number of people of Russian origin.

Mr. Tran Duc Tua said that the life of 6,000 Vietnamese people there was still normal, safe and no one was in danger due to the tense political situation.

However, the trading businesses of Vietnamese people in Barabansova market, where many Vietnamese people in Kharkov work, was affected due to the demonstrations of local people.

In addition, the dramatic devaluation of Hryvna (Ukraine currency) has cut business effectiveness. However, the situation in the market is stable and with no disorder.

Mr. Tua affirmed that Vietnamese people there considered Kharkov as their second homeland, so they tried their utmost to cooperate with local people so that the two sides can support each other at this difficult time./.
