Gruesome Playground Injuries, a play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph, will make its Saigon debut this April, promising to move local audiences with its darkly humorous and modern love story.

The production, directed by Peter O’Neill, will have a limited run on April 22, 23 and 25 at Cargo/Q4 bar, 7 Nguyen Tat Thanh.

Thailand-based English language theater group Peel the Limelight brought it to Vietnam, after a successful Bangkok premiere in February.

The play features a modern love story starting on the playground and lasting over 30 years, showing the beautifully destructive nature of romance.

Some people may think it’s child’s play, but the producers say it’s bloody, dangerous and painful to watch. It is definitely not suitable for young children.

The play had its world premiere on October 2009 in Texas. An off-Broadway production debuted in February 2011.
