PANO – Under the instruction of Vietnamese Minister of National Defence General Phung Quang Thanh, Vietnam halts the search for the missing plane MH370 of Malaysian Airlines and will stand ready for the search in its capacity if Malaysian Government requests for help.
Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Chief of General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army cum Deputy Minister of National Defence said that at the meeting on March 15th at the Headquarters of Defence Ministry on the search for missing plane MH370 of Malaysian Airlines.
Accordingly, Vietnamese forces will stop the search and inform foreign forces involved in the search in Vietnamese territorial waters to pull out.
At the meeting, Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff and representatives of participating forces briefed the Chief of the General Staff on the results of the search for the Malaysian Plane MH370 went missing a week ago with 239 passengers on board as well as proposed measures for the coming days.
Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff also said that Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Nguyen Hong Thao had informed the outcomes of the press conference held earlier the same day by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak to announce the halt the search for the missing plane in the East Sea.
Addressing the meeting, general Ty said over the last 8 days, with proactiveness, activeness and a high sense of responsibility, Vietnam had mobilized forces, vehicles and equipment to work with international friends to constantly search for the ill-fated plane.
