Chinese man fined for wife purchase

TAY NINH (VNS)— Authorities in southern Tay Ninh Province yesterday imposed a VND20 million (US$950) fine on a Chinese man for coming to Viet Nam to choose a wife via illegal marriage brokers.


According to local police, Lien Liyong was involved in a human trafficking case discovered by provincial police last month. Five members of the trafficking ring were arrested. — VNS
