HA NOI(VNS) — Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga visited and co-chaired the first Vietnam-Oman political consultation this week with her Omani counterpart, Ahmed Bin Yusuf Al Harthy.

During her visit, Nga paid a courtesy call to the ministers in charge of foreign affairs, human resources and finance, and Oman’s chamber of commerce and industry.

During the meetings, the two sides briefed each other on the socio-economic and political situation in each country.

Both officials expressed their delight at the growing bilateral ties between the two countries, and said they wished to increase multifaceted co-operation, especially in economics.

They agreed to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, while encouraging businesses from both sides to strengthen partnerships by taking part in trade fairs and exhibitions.

They pledged to actively co-ordinate in implementing the agreements reached during the second meeting of the Joint Committee in Muscat in January.

The two countries planned to bolster collaboration in trade, oil and gas, investment, labour, tourism and seafood.

They also discussed global issues of mutual concern, committing to strengthening co-ordination at international forums. — VNS
