A court in the southeastern province of Dong Nai on Thursday sentenced a man to four months in jail for uploading video clips of him having sex with his ex-girlfriend on a Facebook page he opened using the woman’s name.

Bui Vu Hoang Phuong, 25, of Long Thanh District was convicted on charges of “humiliating” the woman known only as P.

He was also ordered by the Long Thanh District People’s Court to pay VND42 million (US$2,000) in compensation to P.

According to the indictment, Phuong captured sex scenes with P., 30, two times with his mobile phones between October 2011 and May 2012.

In August 2012, the couple broke up.

Later that year Phuong, who worked as a network administrator for a company in Ho Chi Minh City, opened a Facebook page with the personal details of P. and a profile photo of her. He then posted a sex clip and photos on the page.

P. sent a complaint to the police. However, Phuong then posted another clip on the Facebook page, this time the clip was hidden in a link.

Both times he posted the clips he was traveling in Cambodia.

P. then lodged a complaint with police again.

She told police Phuong had threatened to kill her family members if she reported the problem to police.

He also challenged her to bring him to court, saying he posted the clips and photos abroad, so he could not be punished by Vietnamese laws.
