(VOV) – Vietnam won their first victory at the ongoing World Team Table Tennis Championships in Tokyo on April 30, beating the Dominican Republic 3-1.

Dinh Quang Linh and Le Tien Dat handily defeated their rivals Isaac Vila and Samuel Galvez from the Dominican Republic 3-0 in two separate games respectively.

However, in a stunning upset, national champion Duong Van Nam suffered a crushing 1-3 defeat by Chinese-born rival Ju Lin.

But thanks to long competition experience, Dinh Quang Linh vanquished Samuel Galvez 3-1, helping the Vietnamese team gain an important victory.

On May 1, the Vietnamese team had the last match in Group H with Bulgaria.
