PANO – Northwestern people, mainly from ethnic minority groups, stood along mountainous roads and hills to encourage cyclists of the cycling tournament “To Dien Bien Phu“- the People’s Army Newspaper (PAN) Cup at their third and fourth stage on May 3rd and 4th.
Encouraged by the locals, cyclists continued showing their strength despite hilly and sloping terrains. Cyclist Nguyen Tuan Hoai from Domesco Dong Thap finished first to hold the yellow jersey in the 3rd stage for 172km from Mai Chau town, Hoa Binh province, to Son La city.
Meanwhile, cyclist Nguyen Thi That from An Giang Plant Protection Joint-stock Company (AGPPS) team continued to top the race.
On May 4th, male and female cyclists competed in 12 laps around Son La city with the distance of 40km and 8 laps with 32km, respectively.
Male cyclist Le Nguyet Minh from Eximbank Ho Chi Minh City cycled the fastest while female rider Nguyen Thuy Dung from Binh Duong Water Supply Sewerage Environment Co., Ltd (BIWASE) came first.
However, after the four stages, rider Nguyen Thi That kept upholding the yellow and green jerseys. Le Nguyet Minh successfully defended his two jerseys.
Before the 4th stage started, the organizers presented 15 gifts to local veterans and policy beneficiaries.
