Thailand’s Prime Minister denies abusing power

(VOVworld) – Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra appeared before the Thai Constitutional Court Tuesday to defend herself against accusations that she improperly transferred Thai National Security Council Secretary-General Thawil Pliensri in 2011.

She said the transfer was in the national interest. The Court’s President Charoon Intachan said the Court will issue a ruling on Wednesday. If the court rules against her, Yingluck and her interim cabinet will have to resign immediately. Yingluck is also facing other charges by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) of dereliction of duty in implementing of the state’s rice-buying policy.
