Can you forecast Vietnam’s economic trends over the next 3 years?

Vietnam GDP grew at 5.4 percent year on year in 2013 and Vietnam remains an attractive investment destination for global investors, especially for the manufacturing and processing industry. Economists predict the Vietnam economy will experience positive growth in 2014 on the back of the improved world economic environment. Followed by the growth of nearly 40 percent in total FDI capital registered in 2013, FDI into Vietnam is expected to keep that thanks to the signing of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement and the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) due in 2015. Then, it is expected that Vietnam’s economy will gradually grow further in the following years.

What is the trend of industry growth in Vietnam? Do you have any products to support the above forecast and trends?

We focus on three sectors which are expected to see strong growth in the time to come, including agriculture mechanisation, infrastructure and manufacturing.

The first sector is agriculture mechanisation. Vietnam can benefit more from its strength as an agriculture-based country by further mechanising the agriculture sector. Vietnam should import agricultural machinery or develop the local agro-mechanics or do both. Moreover, the food processing industry can take advantage from the growth of the agriculture sector after mechanising. Also, Vietnam needs to pay more attention to food safety. Therefore, DKSH offers products such as agricultural tractors, implements, color sorters for rice and cashew, rice dryer and others), machine tools, analytical instrument or life science instrument.

The second one is infrastructure. Vietnam needs an efficient and integrated transport system to support nationwide transports and to even more integrate with global economy. There is an urgent need of enhancing multimodal transport linkages to promote the seamless movement of people and goods. Many industrial sectors grow when supplying to the infrastructure, including building materials (steel, cement and mining of mineral rock/stone). DKSH’s products to support this trend are construction and mining machineries, crane as well as quality control instruments for building materials manufacturing, such as steel, cement and calcium carbonate.
