(VOV) – Hundreds of people, including workers and residents, walked downstairs in panic after the 22-storey Copac Square in HCM City caught fire on June 23.
The flame went out from an apartment on the 22nd floor after a big explosion at around 10.00am, setting off a fire alarm and triggering a full-scale evacuation.
Evacuees were required to go down the staircase to escape the disaster.
Local fire fighters were mobilised and it took them about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
Initial reports show that the power system of the building collapsed following a short circuit of an electric fan.
Local police said the fire gutted 9 square metres of the apartment, but caused no human casualties.
