The 12th Meeting of the ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities (AWGESC 12), which took place in Phuket, Thailand from May 26 – 29, 2014, established a council in charge of assessing the Third ASEAN Awards for Environmentally Sustainable Cities.
Accordingly, each ASEAN member state is allowed to nominate one candidate city satisfying ASEAN criteria for clean air, clean land and clean water for the Third ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City Award. Hue City of Vietnam, together with nine other ASEAN cities, was honoured to be chosen by the Council for the award.
In addition, the Meeting considered to select 6/13 big, medium and small cities to give the Second Certificates for Potentially Environmentally Sustainable Cities. As a result, DalatCity of Vietnam, together with six other ASEAN cities, was awarded the certificate.
