Indonesia and Australia have agreed to solve a number of bilateral issues and seek new areas of cooperation for their common interests.

Meeting with the press following the June 4 talks with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said both sides saw eye to eye on the need to maintain and enhance their partnership and cooperation for a better future, based on the principles of mutual benefits and respect.
The Indonesian leader added one of the crucial issues to be solved is the spying allegation that surfaced in 2013, and said the two sides had agreed to seek the best measure to handle the issue.
PM Tony Abbott said both Indonesia and Australia are partners that trust each other and the level of trust has been growing for a long time. He expressed his hope that the bilateral issues will be solved in a satisfactory manner.
He emphasised the importance of the two sides’ intelligence and security cooperation to maintaining peace in both countries and the region, and reiterated Australia’s support to the territorial integrity of Indonesia.-VNA
