HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Tam Duong Tea Development Investment Joint Stock Company inaugurated O Long Tam Duong tea processing plant in the northern province of Lai Chau on June 12.

The VND13.5 billion plant is the seventh unit built in the province’s tea growing region, with a designed capacity of 1,300 tonnes of fresh tea per year. The plant will create job for around 100 employees, with an income of VND40 million, or US$1,904, per year each, and help more than 1,400 local tea growing households to earn around VND70 million ($3,333) per hectare per year each.

The company has been exporting its tea products to various countries and territories, including Russia, UK, Pakistan and Taiwan.

A local statistic revealed that at the end of 2013, the province had more than 3,300 hectares of tea plantations. — VNS
