(VOV) -The Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) community in the UK on June 8 gathered once again in front of the Chinese Embassy in London, protesting against China‘s illegal placement of the Haiyang Shiyou-981 drilling rig in Vietnam’s waters.

This is the second time OVs in the UK have rallied to oppose China’s illegal actions and show their steadfast and unwavering support for Vietnam.

The protestors raised Vietnam’s national flag , portraits of President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap, and banners translated into multiple languages, reaffirming Vietnamese sovereignty over the Spratly and Paracel Islands, demanding that China honour international law.

They also resoundingly condemned the unruly and inhuman behaviour of the Chinese boats when they deliberately rammed into Vietnamese law enforcement ships and fishing boats.

Vietnamese expatriates said they participated in the demonstrations to express their patriotism for their homeland and call for British support to rebuke China for violating Vietnam’s waters.

Andrew Green, an English teacher, said that he joined in the march to support Vietnam, adding that Vietnam is part of the international community, thus the United Nations should raise their voice in opposition to the Chinese aggression.

At the meeting, the organizing board also delivered a speech in Vietnamese, English and Chinese, to call upon overseas Vietnamese to keep international friends informed of Beijing’s aggressive behaviour and bogus sovereignty claims, and support Vietnamese soldiers and fishermen in protecting the national sea and island sovereignty.

They also signed a petition asking China to respect Vietnam and sent it to the Chinese Embassy in the UK.
