Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a project to set up high-quality vocational schools by 2020.


It envisages having around 40 schools whose training quality is recognised by ASEAN members and other countries around the world.

MoF gives $21.9m for rice management


The Ministry of Finance has given more than VND460 billion (US$21.9 million) for managing the use of land to grow rice in Ha Noi, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Khanh Hoa, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang.



Dong Thap Province received the largest amount of VND113.7 billion ($5.4 million).

City to recruit quality teachers of English


The HCM City Department of Education and Training will announce how many personnel it plans to recruit for the 2014-2015 academic year at .


Teachers of English it plans to recruit will be required to have a certificate in International English Language Testing System, or IELTS or Certificate in Advanced English or to have achieved the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages levels.

Traffic accidents, fatalities down in VN


There wee 10,772 road accidents in the country in the first five months of the year, 1,628 less than in the same period last year, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.


The number of deaths was down by 210.


However, 15 provinces and cities saw an increase in accidents.

City farmers pilot dairy farm project


The HCM City Farmers Association is carrying out a pilot programme for breeding dairy cows based on Viet Nam Good Agriculture Practice (VietGap) standards by 360 households in Cu Chi District.


It will later be expanded to farms throughout the city.


The city has nearly 100,000 dairy cows, 65,000 of them in Cu Chi alone.
