The Swiss State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation, Mr. Mauro Dell’Ambrogio, will visit Vietnam from June 12-14.
The State Secretary will be accompanied by a delegation of representatives from major Swiss universities of various scientific disciplines (ETH Zurich, EPFL Lausanne, University of Geneva, University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute).
During his stay in Hanoi, State Secretary Dell’Ambrogio will meet with the Minister of Education and Training and the Minister of Science and Technology on June 12.
The delegation will also visit Hanoi School of Public Health which has collaborated with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute since 2009. The main output of this partnership is the establishment of the Center for Public Health and Ecosystem Research (CENPHER) in Hanoi.
the world premiere of the documentary movie “It’s not a life that doesn’t move” about the Swiss, French and Vietnamese Scientist, Doctor Alexandre Yersin, will take place at the Vietnam National University- VNU Hanoi. A second projection of the documentary movie on Dr. Yersin will take place at the University of Sciences under the Vietnam National University – VNU Ho Chi Minh city on June 13 with similar participation as in Hanoi.
State Secretary Dell’Ambrogio and his delegation will further pay an official visit to the Chairman of the People’s Committee in HCMC on June 13, as well as to the University of Technology which hosts the EPFL Lausanne initiated CARE (Center Asiatique de Recherche sur l’Eau – Asian Water Research Centre). From the International University, the visitors will hear a presentation on the planned “Yersin Institute on Biomedical Engineering“, another joint venture with EPFL Lausanne.
In the framework of the State Secretary’s responsibility for Innovation, he will not only focus on academic research and education, but also connect with Swiss enterprises operating in Vietnam that are strong in know-how transfer, research and development activities and innovation./.
